In August 2006 we introduced a state-of-the-art Truss Facility at our South Salt Lake location. With our focus on quality, which begins with the quality people in our organization, we have already attracted the attention of local contractors for our superior product and ability to take care of roof systems, from the simple to the most advanced in the market today.

In October 2006 we opened a satellite location in Spanish Fork to serve our expanding market in the south Utah county area. Standard Builders continues to remain the venerable, locally owned independent supplier to the professional builder where the focus is on earning and maintaining customer loyalty through better service. History

1935

O.V. and Evan Hansen launched Hansen Lime Company (the forerunner of Standard Builders Supply) after acquiring a lime deposit and processing the product themselves in the height of the Great Depression, working out of small shack, which they rented for $10 a month.

1942

Evan leaves and O.V. partners with Leon Miller and purchased the company's future headquarters on West Temple .

1948

Lumber was added to the product mixture for the building industry they serve.

1957

Hansen Lime company and Beehive Building Supply merge to become Standard Builders Supply, Inc,- a wholesale and retail builders supply center. The partners decided to move their headquarter to the original Beehive Building supply site, enlarging it to accommodate a 7,500-square-ffot showroom with an additional 45,000 square feet of warehouse space. As a result of the merger, Standard builders Supply began operating a Hansen affiliate, lakeside Lime and Stone Company, and manufacturing DryMix packaged concrete products, packaging the cement sand and gravel near the Point of the mountain at the south tip of the Salt Lake Valley.

1970

Mike Hansen, son of O.V. Hansen, and Dale Ridd, a long-time employee, both acquire the business as it continues to grow. By 1980 the company employed more than 100 workers and was generating millions of dollars in sales annually. A long way from the days of a shack.

1989

Dale Ridd sold his share of the business to his sons, Vern and Jim Ridd. Vern retired from the business in 1996 and Mike Hansen and Jim Ridd purchased his share of the business. By the end of the 1990's Standard Builders Supply's sales had jumped from millions of dollars to tens of millions of dollars annually.

2001

One of the fastest growing segments of their business was their packaged concrete operation. This highly successful operation attracted the attention of a national cement company, which made an attractive purchase order and acquired the packaged concrete operation in July 2001. This allowed the owners to concentrate their attention on their company's core business of selling product to home builders, which today accounts for about 90% of all revenue.

2006

To continue to serve the professional builder and offering the complete package, a state-of-the-art Truss Manufacturing Facility is built and opened; a welcome service to the contractor market experiencing its second year of record growth in the Wasatch Front Market. With a total operation with over 200 employees, Standard Builders looks to a bright future without forgetting their humble roots and the values that brought them to the presence they are today.
